Cerno’s 10 days in New York were certainly eventful. Immediately after arriving we visited and assisted with setting up two new showrooms that we will be working with in Manhattan. After the Lighting by Gregory and Desiron spaces were in order it was straight over to the Javits Center to set up our booth for the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF).
It is difficult to describe the significance of ICFF for people who are not familiar with the modern and contemporary industrial design market place. The best parallel that I can draw is to compare it to fashion week, but for furniture, lighting and accessories rather than clothing. The minute ICFF closes each day, it is off to a series of events hosted by the all the flagship showrooms in the city, most of which are situated in SoHo.
Opening day and Cerno’s debut at ICFF was amazing; we met with a ton of incredible designers, architects, and showrooms all that seemed genuinely intrigued and curious to learn more about our line. We introduced several new pendants and two new floor lamps (please check out the Cerno product page to view the additions to the line.) Our fellow exhibitors made for great company and did not fail to impress the Cerno team with their work. It was truly a compliment and honor to be amongst so many talented product designers and their latest works.
When opening day concluded, the Cerno team headed straight to SoHo, where Frank Carfaro and his team at Desiron were hosting their ICFF event, which also served as the formal announcement that Cerno and Desiron were working together and collaborating on a new line of lighting products. Desiron held an amazing event, with fresh risotto and salmon appetizers and a refreshing assortment of beverages. The DJ and band that kept everyone in attendance moving; I honestly think I witnessed a few dance-offs. Cerno is extremely excited about this new partnership with Frank Carfaro and Desiron and looking forward to introducing several new products under this partnership this year. The rest of the week was a true test of stamina, nonetheless we made it and it all went extremely well. Next stop on the tradeshow circuit is LA, June 24-26, for Dwell on Design and then back to New York in August for NYIGF.
