Cerno at Sea

Sailing around the world is not for the faint of heart; you must have an insatiable appetite for adventure and be resilient when constantly being confronted by the oceans unpredictable strength. All three founders of Cerno are sailors and have dreamed of such an adventure; however the current preoccupation with growing Cerno has made it more difficult to spend time on the water. Fortunately we get to live vicariously through our good friends David and Suzi, who embarked are their journey just over two years ago.

David and Suzi are not adhering to a strict schedule, but rather negotiating the seasons wisely and spending as much time as they would like at each new destination. After departing from Newport Beach, they explored Mexico and Central America, next they headed to the Galapagos Islands and continued on to explore Fiji and the rest of the South Pacific. Their next stop is New Zealand.

At Cerno, friendship is a core part of our ethos. It has sustained us from beginning and the bonds we share with our friends, both near and far, continue to be a huge part of where we draw our strength and inspiration. When we found out that David and Suzi would be sailing around the world, we were inspired to create our first LED fixture specifically designed to accommodate life on the high seas.

Our standard energy efficient LED light source inherently solved half of the challenge of always trying to conserve energy where you can; which is extremely important when running off battery power. The second challenge was to design a compact, articulate, and durable light that could handle the continuous battering of the ever-changing ocean.  Daniel and Nick put their heads together and came up with a perfect solution that resolved all of the predetermined design challenges.

Long story short, because we are currently realizing another dream, which is Cerno, we could not be happier that a piece of all of us is sailing around the world with our good friends and helping Dave and Suzi illuminate their cabin every night.
